Robert Rousey, left, and John Burroughs, both with the Rogers Historical Museum, show a cast-aluminum Civil War monument Wednesday that will be placed west of Promenade Boulevard and New Hope Road to commemorate Camp Halleck, a large encampment of Union troops during the Civil War. The camp was named for Gen. Henry Halleck, a Union commander. As many as 30,000 troops were part of the camp that lasted for about three weeks in February 1862, Burroughs said. The camp was spread out from the area of Pinnacle Hills Promenade to Cross Hollows in south Rogers near Lowell. The effort to obtain the monument was led by the museum with the support of donors, said Burroughs, assistant director at the museum.
