Woodland Junior High School eight grader Makayla Maples, 14, visits with Jim Oden, 28 year veteran retired Army, Friday morning Dec. 20, 2013 during "Warming the Hearts of Veterans" event at the school in Fayetteville. Students in the Read 180 program had the opportunity to visit with 12 veterans of different military service as part of their research and activities in studying of the different wars. Each veteran was presented with a blanket made by the students.
