Fourth- and fifth-graders watch a performance by Frosty the Trick Horse and his handler Robby Kelsheimer on Monday at Lowell Elementary School during an event sponsored by the Horse Tales Literacy Program, community volunteers and the Nestle Corporation. Approximately 225 students from Lowell Elementary and Old Wire Elementary were invited to learn about the care and importances of horses at the event. The horse literacy event aimed to tie into the fourth-graders’ curriculum while they read “The Black Stallion” by Walter Farley in class.
