STAFF PHOTO DAVID GOTTSCHALK Eddie McClendon with Pickett Industries drive an excavator to clear land Thursday at the former C&L Landfill off of Cato Springs Road in southwest Fayetteville. Eighteen inches of clay and 6 inches of topsoil will cap the more than 30-acre landfill, which will become part of a planned park in the area.
