Springdale police officers take Noah Dillaplane into custody Tuesday in the parking lot in front of the J&S Taxes office on the 200 block of South Thompson in Springdale. Dillaplane, police said, tried to shoot another man in the parking lot of the Advance Auto Parts store a block away, but was caught trying to hide in the tax office building after asking to use their phone.

About 150 youths in the Rogers Activity Center Summer Day Camp toured the park’s visitor center, Elkhorn Tavern, shown here, and the battlefield where the Battle of Pea Ridge was waged in March 1862. Frederking is a counselor at the day camp, which runs through mid-August.

The room just opened this week for Springdale employees to use after the building was extensively remodeled. The facility has bathrooms and locker rooms with showers which the old facility lacked.
