Work continues Monday afternoon on the “flyover” bridge connecting northbound College Avenue to the Fulbright Expressway in Fayetteville. The new section will allow traffic to proceed over southbound lanes of traffic on College Avenue before connecting with westbound Fulbright Expressway. Emery Sapp & Sons of Columbia, Mo., is the contractor on the $6.3 million construction project. The “flyover” is slated for completion in mid-2014.

Fiona Davis, 10, and Isabelle Shackelford, both of Springdale, test the water from a spring Monday at the Illinois River Watershed Partnership art and nature camp at the lake in Cave Springs. In between lessons, the students were able to explore the spring which came from the cave and learn about the watershed. The daylong camp featured lessons about the watershed and art techniques.

The three-day program provides high school students, primarily of Hispanic or Marshallese backgrounds, with the knowledge and encouragement to seek out higher education opportunities. The program, sponsored by NWACC, is in its second year.
